About Ultimate Automotive Service Center
A family shop on Oakwood Drive
Melvis Jimmerson opened the doors in March 1987. It is still locally owned and family operated, and today the lights stay on until nine on weeknights.

Melvis Jimmerson’s story
Melvis was born in Grand River, Iowa, and has always worked in the automotive industry. He moved to the Des Moines area in 1970, and in 1987 he opened Ultimate Automotive Service Center.
The shop calls itself locally owned and family operated, and it sums itself up in one line: a family tradition of caring. You rely on your car for so much, and the idea has always been that you can rely on the people fixing it.
That is also the reputation the shop talks about first: a strong name for customer service, and a shop that gets involved in the community it works in.

A shop with bays big enough for RVs and buses
Most of the work is cars and trucks, but the building was laid out for bigger things too. Three large bays fit RVs and buses, so a vehicle that would not clear the door at a smaller shop can still come in, go up and get looked at properly.
The parts inventory is large, which matters when a job is waiting on one component. Brakes, diagnostics, engines, transmissions, A/C, tires and towing all run out of the same address, so one phone call covers the whole problem.

A family tradition of caring
Mark Jimmerson was born in the Des Moines area and started working at the shop at the age of 14. Today he is the manager, the shop email reaches him, and he writes the articles on the shop’s blog about the things Iowa drivers actually run into, like tire tread in rain and snow.
Between Melvis and Mark the shop keeps the same habits: explain the repair in simple terms, keep the customer updated on longer jobs, and road test the car before it goes back out the door.
Customers have noticed. The shop holds a 4.8 rating from 962Google reviews, and one of them says it plainly: “The team is efficient, professional, and always polite.”
